FAQs

Practical Stuff

Do I need to book ahead?

Yes, classes are small (max 10 people) so they fill up. Book through our online system here. If you’re nervous about your first class, email me - I’m always happy to chat beforehand.

Where do I park?

Anywhere on the street - no restrictions, just don’t block neighbors’ driveways.

How do I find the studio?

Look for the side gate with the clear sign - the studio is at the end of my garden.

What if I need to cancel?

No need to email me with any explanation. Please transfer yourself to another class or cancel if you can’t find a suitable time or date. You do this by using your ‘booking confirmation email’ you were sent on my user friendly booking system - just follow the instructions in the terms and conditions on your booking.

Can I eat before class?

Light snack is fine up to an hour before. Heavy meal? Give it 2-3 hours or you’ll regret it during forward bends.

Beginner’s Doubt

“I’m not bendy/spiritual/calm enough for yoga…”

Stop right there. If you’re stressed, stiff, skeptical, or think yoga is just for people who already have their lives sorted - you’re exactly who I teach. I don’t want perfect people in perfect poses. I want real humans dealing with real life.

What if I’ve never done yoga before?

Perfect. I love beginners because you haven’t learned to overthink it yet. Everyone starts somewhere, and I’ll make sure you feel welcome, not lost.

Will you try to make me chant or believe anything?

We do chant Om and a short mantra - it’s completely optional and just sets the tone that you’re not here to compete. I don’t ever say Namaste and I certainly don’t expect people to bow! I’m not going to ever make you do anything. I might share a poem or quote if it fits, but I’m not trying to convert anyone to anything. Sometimes I’ll mention yoga philosophy, but I always tell people to take what works and leave the rest. I question everything - you should too.

How often should I come?

However often feels right for you. Some people come once a week, others twice, some pop in when life gets overwhelming. There’s no perfect schedule - just what works for your life.

What if I’m having a terrible day?

Come anyway. Some of my best classes happen when people arrive feeling awful and leave feeling human again.

Further Questions

I have [injury/health condition] - can I still do yoga?

Probably, but please fill in the health form at the top of the booking page. If anything flags up that I’m concerned about, I’ll email you. If not, I’ll see you in class and guide you through any modifications you need for injuries, lower back issues, etc.

I’m trained in somatic movement and work with bodies that need adaptations. Yoga can often help, but I’m not a doctor - always check with yours first if you have serious concerns.

What’s a typical class like?

There’s no such thing as typical because I work with whatever energy is in the room. But we always start by settling in and noticing where you’re at today. We move slowly, breathe consciously, and end with deep relaxation. You’ll leave feeling more human than when you arrived.

What if I fall asleep during relaxation?

Excellent. Your body is finally getting what it needs. I take it as a compliment.

Are you going to adjust my poses?

Only if you want me to, and only to make you more comfortable or safer - never to make you “look better.” I always ask permission first.

What about the sound healing sessions?

Once or twice a month on Sunday evenings, I host sessions with Tibetan bowls, drums, and gongs. You just lie there and receive - no yoga experience needed. It’s pure sound therapy for when you need deep rest without having to do anything.
