Restorative Yoga
When You Need Deep Rest (But Don't Know How to Get It)
Restorative Yoga is for people who are running on empty but can't seem to switch off. If you're tired but wired, stressed but can't relax, or your nervous system feels permanently switched to "on" - this is what you need.
It's the art of doing nothing and discovering that nothing is actually something very powerful.
Ready to Rest?
Book through our online system. Restorative classes fill up quickly because once people experience deep rest, they tend to protect that time fiercely.
If you're someone who always puts others first, considers rest selfish, or thinks you "should" be doing something more productive - you especially need this.
"In a world that values doing, the courage to simply be is revolutionary."

You spend 90 minutes to 2 hours in deeply supportive poses using soft bolsters, blocks, cushions, and blankets. Think of it as being held by the props while your nervous system finally gets permission to let go.
There's no effort required, no flexibility needed, no poses to achieve. You just rest - really, properly rest - often for the first time in months.
-
When you're chronically stressed, your body forgets how to relax. Sleep doesn't restore you, weekends don't refresh you, and even holidays don't help. Your nervous system is stuck in survival mode.
Restorative yoga gives your body very clear signals that it's safe to rest. The props support you completely, so your muscles don't have to work. Your breath naturally deepens. Your mind finally gets quiet.
It's like hitting a reset button you didn't know you had.

People going through particularly stressful times (work pressure, family crisis, health challenges)
Anyone recovering from illness, injury, or burnout
Chronic insomniacs who are tired of being tired
Highly active people whose bodies need deep restoration
Anyone dealing with anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
People who think they "should" be able to relax but somehow can't
You don't need any yoga experience. In fact, if you've never done yoga before, this might be the perfect introduction.

I completed my teacher training in Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater, one of the foremost experts in this practice and a senior student of B.K.S. Iyengar. This isn't just lying around with pillows - it's a precise practice designed to activate your body's natural healing responses.

Settling in: Getting comfortable, explaining the setup for each pose
Supported poses: Your body will relax over bolsters in different shapes, completely supported. A gentle back bend or spinal twist, inversion and other positions - I'll guide you through each pose. These postures are held between 10 and 20 minutes. Your body will stretch while supported and you will become deeply relaxed.
Deep rest: Final relaxation where everything integrates
Between poses, I'll help you transition slowly. There's no rushing, no pressure to move before you're ready.
-
I provide everything you need: bolsters, blocks, blankets, eye pillows (though you'll want to bring your own eye pillow eventually - it's a personal thing). The props are arranged so your body is completely supported in each pose.
You're not stretching or strengthening - you're allowing. The gentle, sustained support helps release tension that's often too deep for regular massage or stretching to reach.
-
After periods of high stress or major life changes
When you're physically exhausted but your mind won't stop
During illness or recovery when your body needs gentle care
When regular exercise feels like too much effort
Before important events when you need to be centred and calm
Whenever you realise you can't remember the last time you truly relaxed
-
In our culture, we've confused being busy with being productive, movement with progress. Restorative yoga teaches you that rest is not the absence of activity - it's a skill that needs to be learned and practiced.
When you're truly rested, you function better in every other area of your life. You sleep more deeply, think more clearly, and respond rather than react to stress.

Suitable for: Anyone except pregnant women (they need specialised prenatal classes)
What to bring: Just yourself.
I don’t supply eye pillows/masks, you can bring your own if you want to. Not having one won’t detract from the experience.
What to wear: Comfortable, loose clothing and socks (you'll want to stay warm during the long holds)
Class size: Small groups for a peaceful atmosphere
Physical requirements: None. This practice adapts to every body

"Restorative yoga looks like you're doing nothing, but don't be fooled! The props help you relax the body and let go of tension, thus moving deeper into the pose than I ever thought possible."
"I was keen to try restorative yoga after being plagued by a chronic hip injury. Having always been very sporty and active, I've fallen in love with yoga and all the benefits it brings."
"I had no idea how much tension I was carrying until I experienced what it felt like to truly let go."
